My Contribution
During my time at Carvana, I had the pleasure of being in charge of the designs for MOMS. Some of my ongoing contributions to the improvement of the tool were researching, designing experiences, prototyping, creating components, and working closely with the engineers on a regular basis for design iterations and QA.
Problem Space
When a customer sells their vehicle to Carvana, pickup is arranged for the vehicle. But sometimes there are Sell-to-Carvana (STC) vehicles sitting on a customer's driveway due to a variety of unforseen circumstances, there wasn't a clear way to indicate these outstanding vehicles that needs to go back to the retailer or wholesale hubs.
Outcome
The team and I shipped a feature that brought these outstanding STC vehicles to the market leaders' attention. This streamlines the market operations activities across all the Carvana hubs.
Note
This is a quick show-and-tell of one of the numerous projects I designed for MOMS, not a representation of everything my team and I worked on, which included a ton of feature launches and optimizations, design iterations, workshops, studies, and trials and errors. Reach out for more details.
STC Towbacks
STC towbacks are retrieving and transporting an STC vehicle whose transaction was executed previously by another advocate.
When market leaders manage schedules, the first place they go to is the Next Day Scheduler (NDS), where they can see who is assigned what type of vehicle pick up or drop off on the daily. A few iterations were made prior to this version of design you see here. Unassigned sell-to-Carvana (STC) towbacks was added right below the schedule for visibility and ease of placement into the schedule, date of event are added to indicate priority. STC Towbacks tab was created to allow checking and modifications of the event assignments.
